Our family has moved to Montreal to learn French for about two months. We are staying in a great family neighborhood that is only a short train ride away from our language classes. Beth and I take turns teaching elementary French to our kids at home while the other is in class. 

Living in a French speaking area is really helping us apply what we’re learning in class. It really helps in hearing the French accent, although one woman on the street told us that if we learn Quebecois French that we will only be able to speak it here. I think she was just a little down on her province.

Here are a few pictures so far.

We leave two weeks from today for Montreal, Canada to learn French before we move to Togo at the end of August. Please pray for us as we pack up the house and for Ryan as he tries to finish his dissertation.

We recently partnered with another church to help with out work fund. Robinson Avenue Church of Christ in Springdale, AR will be giving us monthly support. We’re thankful for them and especially the Kilmer family who are great friends!

Next week I will be in a class on “Church Planting” with Dr. Stan Granberg at Harding School of Theology. This will be my last class in the Doctor of Ministry program. Dr. Granberg has served as a missionary in Kenya and now directs Kairos Church Planting in the United States. I know that the class will be helpful for our future work.

We are thankful to announce that Holmes Road has added us to their mission fund. It is a blessing and honor to partner with Holmes Road to take the gospel to Togo. We can’t underestimate the effect that Holmes Road has had on our whole family’s life.

Also, we are very thankful that Mariah Stephenson will be teaching our kids in Togo next year. We have known Mariah for several years and she is a wonderful young woman. Please pray for her in her fundraising.

winter 2012

We are very excited to announce that Central Church of Christ has agreed to oversee and be a major financial supporter of our work in Togo. We have been meeting with them for a few months talking about the work and are so glad to have formalized our relationship. We will spend about a month with them next year before we move to Togo.

We are working on a timeline for our transition and are still in need of start-up funds and more ongoing support, but we are thankful for this big step!
